A scout HQ in Morecambe will be renamed in memory of an inspirational man who was part of the Scout movement for more than 60 years.
Alan Hague BEM, who died in March, was a mainstay and driving force of the 16th Morecambe Scouts in Torrisholme.
Their Michaelson Avenue base will be renamed Alan Hague Headquarters, and there will be a plaque unveiling in his honour this Sunday (December 1).
Former Scouts from the 16th Morecambe are being invited along to the ceremony.
Alan volunteered with Scouts for over 60 years, his service being recognised with a British Empire Medal in the 2015 New Year Honours List.
Alan started as an assistant scout leader at 16th Morecambe in 1960, before becoming a scout leader.
He helped to build the group, relocate the HQ from its former site in the grounds of The Church of the Ascension and then to rebuild the group and HQ following a devastating fire in 1996.
Upon his retirement as scout leader, Alan became the district secretary assuming responsibility for the administration of the organisation in Lancaster, Morecambe and the surrounding area.
He always maintained his links with 16th Morecambe, attending Annual General Meetings and supporting them.
"I know many people will have fond memories of Alan, his competitive spirit and his desire to see 16th Morecambe succeed and it would be lovely to see some ex-Scouts and leaders at the HQ on Sunday when we rename the building in his memory," said a post on the 16th Morecambe and Heysham Scouts Facebook page.
The 16th Morecambe Scout Group will also hold their first Christmas Fair on Sunday between 12.30pm and 4pm. This will include stalls, sweet treats and a prize raffle. Admission is free but donations are welcome. The plaque unveiling is due to take place at around 1pm.
