After Northern Rail’s decision to swap trains between Lancaster and Morecambe with Rail Replacement Buses over the summer holiday period, its understood that trains will be reinstated from Monday 6th September
County Councillor Charlie Edwards says: “A train from Morecambe to Lancaster is not very much to ask for, and for Northern to put us on a replacement bus service during the holidays was bonkers.”
“We want to see quality investment in this route moving forward and I will use my influence within Transport for the North and my Transport role at the Council to put Morecambe on the map.”
“With Eden on the horizon, exciting plans for the prom and Frontierland, and a growing population we deserve much better rail links. I will campaign for better evening and weekend services from Morecambe; and trains that can go further afield, as a link to the Manchester-Barrow line.”
A spokes person for Northern Rail confirmed in a recent email stating:
“I would like to confirm that all Northern services which have been temporarily suspended from the timetable from 2 and 16 August 2021 will be reinstated from Monday 6 September.”
