The next mayor of Lancaster has been elected and is a well-known face around the District.
Councillor Margaret Pattison, who represents the West End of Morecambe ward on Lancaster City Council, was chosen to take over the mayoral robes in May 2025.
The mayor of Lancaster is elected each year and the role is offered to the most senior available councillor.
Councillor Pattison's Labour colleague Councillor Martin Gawith, nominating her for the role, said: "She's probably the most recognised councillor in Morecambe and around the place.
"Every Morecambe resident seems to know her.
"I am delighted and have complete confidence that Councillor Pattison will do a great job in the coming year."
Independent Councillor Roger Cleet, seconding the proposal, said she is "a very hard working Lancaster city councillor and Lancashire county councillor".
Councillors voted in favour of Councillor Pattison becoming mayor-elect, at a meeting at Morecambe Town Hall on Wednesday.
As well as being on the city and county councils, Councillor Pattison is also on Morecambe Town Council.
She will take over from current mayor, Councillor Abi Mills of the Green group.
