Motorists travelling through Lancaster on the M6 are being warned to expect delays next week.
Starting on Monday (September 15), National Highways are replacing the central safety barrier between J34 at Lancaster to J35 at Carnforth.
There will be a permanent lane closure in place both ways during the work and a 50mph speed limit in force.
Work is expected to last until the end of November, with drivers being warned of a potential delay of up to 30 minutes on their journey during peak times.
A spokesperson for National Highways said: ‘’We’re repairing the central reservation barrier between Halton and Carnforth as the current one has reached the end of its serviceable life.
‘’This work will minimise the risk of vehicle crossover and reduce reactive repairs and road closures over the next decade.
‘’Working this way means no full M6 closures are needed, but delays of around 30 minutes are expected at peak times.
‘’Please plan and allow extra time to complete journeys, especially on Fridays and Sundays.
‘’We’ll make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum, but unforeseen circumstances or poor weather conditions may mean changes to the schedule.’’
