The date has been announced for the opening of a new bubble tea shop in Lancaster city centre.
CUPP’s Lancaster store is opening on Penny Street on Friday January 20 at 2pm offering free bubble tea to its first 100 customers.
Lee Peacock, founder of CUPP, said: “We’ve seen an incredible response to the opening of our new stores across the country, with customers queuing around the block for a taste of our bubble teas.
“We can’t wait to open our 25th store in Lancaster and bring our bubble teas to the community.”
Tom Fyson, Operations Manager at Lancaster BID (Business Improvement District), said ‘We’re delighted to see continued confidence in Lancaster city centre with another new business opening its doors.
"We are sure that Lancaster residents will join us in welcoming CUPP to Lancaster."
Bubble tea has become a craze in the UK in recent years and several other shops selling the drink have opened in Lancaster and Morecambe.
Last year the Boba Boba shop opened on the corner of Market Street and China Street.
Originally bubble tea (also known as pearl milk tea, boba tea, boba milk tea and bubble milk tea) was a term given to drinks that consisted of tea, milk and chewy tapioca pearls which are shaken together to form a bubbly foam on top of the drink.
These days, the name 'bubble tea' is given to a wide variety of fruity and milk infused teas that are produced in this way.

The origins of bubble tea come from Taiwan in the 1980s and have become increasingly popular across the world.
CUPP launched in Bristol in 2012 and has expanded to open outlets all over the country.
Beyond Radio exclusively brought you the news of the new shop back in November.
