A new chief has taken over as the head of policing in Lancaster and Morecambe.
Chief Superintendent Mike Gladwin is the new Divisional Commander for West Division, leading policing in Lancaster and Morecambe, as well as Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre.
Chief Supt Gladwin started his policing career in 1996 when he joined Greater Manchester Police.
He was posted to Oldham, where he was born and bred, and spent the first seven years of his career on Response. He made the transition to become a detective in 2003 and worked his way through roles in CID, the Force Major Investigations Team, Sexual Crime Unit, and Public Protection.
In October 2018 he transferred to Lancashire Constabulary as a Detective Chief Inspector and after a couple of years at Hutton Headquarters, and three years at South Division (covering Preston, South Ribble, Chorley, Ormskirk and Skelmersdale), moved to West Division as Detective Superintendent.
"A lot of my career has been in the detective realm (and ) coming back to working in uniform is definitely a change, but a really rewarding one," said Chief Supt Gladwin.
"This is my home Division and I've lived here for 20 years – I’m very proud of this and I’m invigorated to build on the successes and hard work of the officers and staff who work here.
"My message to all residents in the Division is that I’m committed to working with you and our partner agencies to address the issues that matter the most to you. Criminality is not welcome in Lancashire, and I’ll ensure that we use all resources to deliver the best service possible."
