Stunning murals have appeared around Morecambe as part of a new campaign to brighten up the town - and include a touching tribute to a man known for feeding pigeons.
Local artist Matty Green has created the murals to kickstart an art trail around the resort - run by local organisation Morecambe BID (Business Improvement District).
Matty's first mural, just off Marine Road Central on the back of The Old Pier Bookshop building, depicts a seagull eating chips - a regular sight on the seafront!
It also pays homage to John Wilkinson, known as 'The Bird Man of Morecambe', who died in 2022.

Mr Wilkinson could often be seen feeding the birds in the local area from his trolley of bread.
A further mural on the corner of Union Street and Victoria Street shows the Pokemon character Pikachu riding a surfboard with the Morecambe RNLI logo (below).

This is on the side of The Vault trading card and board game shop, which was previously home to The Welcome Cafe and for years, The Victoria pub.
Morecambe BID hopes the art trail will showcase the incredible artistic talent within our town and beyond, bringing together the community to make art an integral part of everyday life.
The BID plans to involve further artists and local groups over the course of the campaign.

They are seeking residents and local businesses willing to offer exterior spaces on their buildings or properties for the next wave of murals.
“Art has the power to transform both places and people,” said David Waddington, chair of Morecambe BID.
“We’re beyond excited to kick off this campaign with the support of fantastic local talent like Matty Green.
"But making this trail something truly special will require the collective effort of our community. That’s what this project is really all about—bringing Morecambe together through art.”
The aim is to foster a sense of pride, community, and cultural appreciation in Morecambe; adding colour, character, and vibrancy to the town, boosting its appeal to both residents and visitors.
If you are a property owner or business interested in donating a space for a mural, or if you’re an artist or group wanting to get involved, please contact Morecambe BID at info@morecambebid.org.uk
