A seafood cafe based around the history of Morecambe Bay shrimps is set to open in the town.
The Shrimpy Shack in the Plaza Arcade in Morecambe town centre will open in July and be run by Wise Up Workshops from their Plaza Hub in the arcade.
It will be a social enterprise eating experience bringing to life the history of Morecambe Bay shrimps.
LISTEN to Elspeth Roberts from Wise Up Workshops talking about the Shrimpy Shack:

"We created a theatre piece and it's all about the history of Morecambe Bay shrimps," said Elspeth Roberts from Wise Up Workshops.
"Then we realised we could feed people with this. We gifted it to frontline workers and they immersed themselves in live theatre, and we fed them, with food inspired by Morecambe Bay: fish and Morecambe Bay shrimps.
"We did a survey, and there isn't anywhere where you can go and sit and eat seafood (in Morecambe).
"So our next plan is we're going to have a dining experience where you come and eat seafood.
"We're busy creating a cafe and a kitchen, we're in talks with fisher people over in the Ulverston area and they're going to supply fish for us on a weekly basis.
"They've also got stories to tell us about the bay."
The Shrimpy Shack will be offering supper nights during the summer holidays.
Wise Up Workshops run drama and art workshops and classes to promote personal development, confidence, communication and well-being for all ages and abilities.
