North Lancashire rail commuters are bracing themselves for travel chaos due to strike action tomorrow (Wednesday, July 27).
Strike action will significantly affect services, with most lines closed with no train services or alternatives.
Northern are advising customers not to travel, as there are a small number of their routes running with a very limited service.
They also advise customers to check before they travel on Thursday 28 July as some services may have been affected by the previous day's strike action.
Tickets dated for 27 July can be used between 26 July and 2 August.
Avanti West Coast say customers should expect the existing timetable to be reduced significantly, and those services that do run are expected to be very busy, so they also strongly advise only travel by rail if absolutely necessary. The days either side of industrial action will also be affected. We will announce the revised timetables as soon as possible.
Any Avanti customers with existing tickets for travel from 26 to 28 July can use those tickets anytime between now and 29 July.
Alternatively, customers with tickets for the affected days can claim a full refund.
TransPennine Express (TPE) is asking customers to plan carefully ahead.
They company say they are working with industry colleagues, who are also affected by the industrial action, to determine what level of service we will be able to provide.
A significantly reduced timetable will be in place on the affected date and customers are advised to seek alternative transport and only plan essential travel.
Disruption is also expected on days either side of the strike date.
