An elderly man has been found dead in Lancaster Canal.
Emergency services were called to the canal near Church Court in Bolton-le-Sands on Monday at 5.23pm after reports that a body had been found.
"We had to close the canal between Broadlands Bridge and the next bridge into Bolton le Sands village when we got a report of a body in the canal," said Det Insp Adie Knowles, speaking on his regular Beyond the Beat segment on Beyond Radio on Tuesday.
"An elderly gentleman was in the canal who had sadly passed away.
"There were no suspicious circumstances, it was a tragic incident.
"The fire brigade came to assist us in recovering him from the water.
"Our condolences go to his family."
A police spokesperson said a file will be passed onto HM Coroner in due course.
