Around 900 people took part in an emotional and ruby-red themed walk through the night in aid of St John's Hospice.
The hospice's annual Moonlight Walk on Saturday was a momentous occasion with many participants walking in memory of loved ones who'd received end of life care in the hospice.
Setting off at around 10pm, the walkers - taking on either a 16km or 8km route - teemed through the exit of the hospice on Slyne Road as a sea of ruby red, wearing T-shirts to mark the hospice's 40th anniversary year.
They then walked into Lancaster, along the cycle track and the Millennium Bridge to the castle, which welcomed them with spectacular red projections with poignant and inspiring messages.

The walkers then returned to Morecambe Road, with those walking the 16km distance going along Broadway onto Morecambe Promenade, then heading east through Hest Bank and Bolton-le-Sands, then back onto Slyne Road before returning to the hospice to receive their commemorative red medals.
Earlier, Beyond Radio's Chris Brookbanks and SilentMark helped create a buzzing pre-walk vibe with music and announcements in the hospice's event village, with support from Sam Cragg, Roy Ward, Ethan Isaacs, Phil McGrath and of course, Beyond Bear.
We also presented a live broadcast from the walk, with Luke Edmondson and John Hewson.

Beyond Radio's Greg Lambert was among the walkers, completing the 16km route at around 2am on Sunday.

A post on the St John's Hospice Facebook page described the evening as "an incredible event".
"With £80,000 raised already, and so much more to be counted, we cannot put on such a huge event without so many people to say thank you to...
"Thank you firstly to our incredible volunteers and marshals, all 140 of them! Without them we truly cannot run such a successful and safe event for all of our supporters.
"Thank you to our generous event sponsors Thermo Fisher Scientific, Ratcliffe & Bibby Solicitors, Oakmere, Burch Tree Vets, SurgeVolt Electrical and Strongdor Limited.
"Imitating the dog took an idea and turned it into the most beautiful spectacle. We hope you all loved the special projection artwork up up onto Lancaster Castle just a much as we did. To the castle team and FGH Security thank you once again for welcoming us into your beautiful space. BCL Lighting and Design for beautifully lighting up Millennium Bridge for Memory Lane and the hospice grounds red to celebrate our anniversary.
"Beyond Radio, Matrix Circus, Samba Espirito and CW Fitness for bringing good vibes and entertainment to the Event Village! Thank you to Andy's Man Club Morecambe for attending, to speak to anyone who may need them.

"Big Bear's BBQ & Grill, Lay by Lattes and Rapid Relief Team for keeping our walkers fuelled and hydrated. Bookers for donating some of the sweets handed out along route!
"Painted Faces by Kelly and our St John's Hospice Shops team for getting you all accessorised and face painted up ready to go!

"Lancaster Area Police for patrolling the route and keeping everyone safe, Lakes Loos and Event Support, Evans Marquee Hire, Beaumont College for volunteer parking and R Leisure Hire for donating the stage for the evening in memory of a loved one.
"Don't forget, our TOP Fundraiser will receive a years free hairdressing from the incredibly kind Jo and Cass Lancaster.
"And last but not least, YOU - our walkers! Thank you for choosing to support St John's Hospice in such a milestone year."
