A vehicle stolen overnight from Silverdale has been recovered from the River Lune at Lancaster.

St George's Quay Road was closed at the bottom of Lune Road while the vehicle was recovered on Monday morning.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: "We were called at just after 5am today (Monday) to a report a vehicle has been seen in the River Lune at Lancaster.

"Police attended and found a Mitsubishi pick up truck in the river.

"The truck was registered to an address in Silverdale, and the owner was visited and confirmed the vehicle had been stolen overnight.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting log 0206 of August 3rd."

Stagecoach said bus services were temporarily unable to serve St George's Quay due to the police road closure.
