A 24-hour cycling challenge in Lancaster will see the community pedal a round-the-world distance to raise money for two good causes.
The Ride for Hope takes place at Salt Ayre Leisure Centre on August 22 and 23, as cyclists will aim to raise £18,000 for St John’s Hospice and PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide.
Over 24 hours, riders will work together to complete 18,000 laps of the Salt Ayre cycle track, equal to the 18,000-mile cycle journey around the world.
Some people will ride for a few laps, some for a few hours and some through the night, there’s even a time trial, and any cyclist can take part.
Paul Andrews and Adie Hamilton from the Ride for Hope team popped in to the Beyond Radio studios to talk about the challenge.

In order to raise funds there will be a £10 entry fee per rider (£5 for under-18s).
Although not compulsory to raise funds on top of your ride fee, organisers would appreciate any additional fundraising to raise as much money for the charities.
The event is organised in partnership by the Salt Ayre Cog Set cycling club, Lancaster Cycling Club and Lancaster City Council.
