A new 24-hour petrol station is being planned at Heysham Port.
A planning application has gone in to Lancaster City Council for the unattended fuel station on the built on the site of the port's former marine workshops off Princess Alexandra Way.
The station would have four pumps for cars and light goods vehicles, a bunkering area comprising four pumps for the refuelling of HGVs, HGV parking spaces, a service bay for cars, a drivers' facilities building, including toilets, showers and vending machines, and a storage and control room building.
The planning application is for 'construction of a filling station including single storey facilities and control buildings, canopy, HGV parking and electric charging areas and associated infrastructure'.
The site is bounded by commercial properties and Heysham Port and passenger terminal, and by Heysham Golf course to the east and south.
An application form submitted with the plans says: "A large stone building associated with Heysham Port was present on the site until 2024, but was removed under a Demolition Notice prior to an ecological site visit by the previous landowner."
The applicant is LCC Group Ltd, Cookstown, Northern Ireland.
The plans can be viewed in the planning section of the Lancaster City Council website, reference number 24/00978/FUL.
Lancaster City Council will make a decision on planning permission in due course.
