A police inspector has appealed for people to keep doors and windows locked during warm weather after a spate of burglaries in Lancaster.
Det Insp Adie Knowles said arrests had been made and property recovered after burglaries on Balmoral Road and Melrose Street overnight on May 16 and 17.
Det Insp Knowles was speaking on 'Beyond the Beat', his regular crime update on Beyond Radio.
"There has been a bit of a trend across Morecambe, Lancaster and Heysham, mainly Lancaster, where insecure doors and insecure windows (have been left open) because it's warm," he said.
"Especially if you're going out, just make sure everything is locked, downstairs windows are certainly closed. It will make a huge difference, in that it's not quote so easy to to get in.
"Unfortunately, sneak-in burglars might even try them while you're in. So please keep doors and windows locked, and do what you can to keep your property safe.
"We have made a couple of arrests over the last couple of days of individuals, we have recovered quite a few bits of property from the recent burglaries (which) will be reunited with the rightful owners."
Det Insp Knowles appealed for anyone with infornation about the burglaries to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, which is confidential and free, on 0800 555111.
