A police car has been involved in a crash on the M6 near Lancaster.
The vehicle was in collision with a Volkswagen Polo close to Junction 33 at around 1.30pm on Thursday.
A police spokesperson said that "thankfully, any injuries suffered were minor".
The M6 northbound was closed between Junction 32 at Preston and Junction 33 following the crash, and traffic was being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads.
By late afternoon, the area had been cleared and motorway lanes reopened, although National Highways: North West said there would still be "severe delays" of up to 90 minutes and around six miles of congestion.
