Police have chased a gang riding off-road bikes through a Morecambe housing estate after reports of them threatening people and causing damage in the town.
Officers seized one of the bikes after the pursuit around the Branksome estate on Thursday afternoon.
Earlier, Morecambe BID (Business Improvement District) warned residents to watch out for the gang after incidents in the town centre on Thursday morning.
Video footage released by Morecambe BID on Thursday, shows a person on a bike, wearing a balaclava, screaming loudly at a passer by as he rode recklessly across the zebra crossing near the Eric Morecambe Statue.
He was then followed by two other bikes as they rode up Euston Road into the pedestrian area of the town.
A photo released by Morecambe BID also showed a person wearing a balaclava on a bike at the top of the 'Teletubby mountain' on the nearby children's playground.
An eye-witness said the gang was being "purposefully menacing" and their bikes had damaged the grassy area near the playground, shortly after council workers had been preparing the area ahead of this weekend's Baylight festival in Morecambe.
The witness said one of them was riding his bike up and down the hill on the kids' playground while his friend was filming him.
There were further reports of the gang causing issues in the Sandylands area.
"Please be careful in the town centre and on the Promenade," said a post by Morecambe BID Facebook page.
"A gang on motorbikes is riding at high speed, threatening people and damaging property.
"If you believe you know the identity of these people or recognise the bikes being driven - please pick up the phone to Morecambe Area Police.
"The police are aware.
"If seen, do not approach; call 999."
A Morecambe Area Police spokesperson said: "We have been responding to reports during the day off off road bikes riding in a dangerous and illegal manner around the Morecambe area.
"We have seized (a bike) after a pursuit around the Branksome estate.
"We appreciate the concern these bikes have caused throughout the day, and we are continuing to locate the other two bikes along with their riders for a variety of offences.
"Any information about the offenders using these bikes can be emailed to 8161@lancashire.police.uk
"Or reported directly to Crime Stoppers (0800 555111) if you wish to remain anonymous."
David Waddington, chairman of Morecambe BID, said: "I’d like to extend my thanks to Morecambe Police for a great response today.
"Thankfully nobody was hurt, and one of our committee members had the foresight to record activity, as have other members of the public, which will prove very useful.
"It’s absolutely unacceptable. People need to feel safe in Morecambe and that is our collective aim, and what we’re working towards with our Safe Morecambe initiative.
"Let it be a warning too, to anyone intent on causing harm, damage or general mischief in Morecambe - we will do everything possible to prevent and deter this kind of behaviour.
"I hope the perpetrators are ashamed of themselves- and that their families and anyone who knows them are too.
"Morecambe’s residents and businesses are proud of our town, we won’t stand for it."
