Two people have been arrested after a man was critically injured in a fail-to-stop collision in Morecambe earlier this week.
At 2.38pm on Tuesday (December 16), the North-West Ambulance Service informed Lancashire Police about the collision which happened on Ovangle Road, Morecambe, involving a black Hyundai i30 car and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment with a number of serious injuries. His condition is described as critical.
The Hyundai was later found abandoned.
A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop after a collision, and a 37-year-old woman has been arrested for causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a collision and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Both are currently in custody.
Sgt Joseph Calvert, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “As a result of this collision, a man has been left with some very serious injuries, and my thoughts are with him and his loved ones at this difficult time.
“We know this happened at a busy time of the day and there were a number of potential witnesses in the area. With that in mind, would ask anyone with information or dashcam, mobile phone or CCTV footage which could assist our enquiries to make contact with us as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information or footage is asked to call 101 and quote log 743 of 16th December 2025.
