Burglars stole a till from a Morecambe social club at around the same time as three men on bikes were seen trying car doors in the area.
Police were called at 1.57am on Tuesday to the Jubilee Club on Slyne Road in Torrisholme, to a report of a burglary.
A till containing around £25 had been stolen.
The till was later found in a garden near Morecambe Road.
At around the same time, police received reports of three men in dark clothing, possibly on mountain bikes, trying to break into cars in the Slyne Road area and around Torrisholme Primary School on nearby Low Lane.
Police, who believe the incidents may be linked, have asked for anyone with CCTV to please check between 1.30am and 2.30am on August 1 and contact police with any relevant footage of three men in the area.
They have also advised residents to ensure their vehicles are locked and secured.
