Morecambe make their first away trip of the season this weekend, with Peterborough United the destination for Derek Adams’ side.
The Shrimps are looking to build on their opening day point against Shrewsbury Town last Saturday at the Mazuma Stadium, against a side relegated from the Championship last season, and one of the favourites to make an instant return to the second tier.
‘’The first game of the season is always difficult,’’ said Adams.
‘’But the conclusion for me is that we were fit, we were disciplined, we only needed to make one substitution during the game, and the way we went about it was positive.
‘’Shrewsbury will do well this season so for us, it was a good point on the first day.’’
A number of new recruits made their debuts for the Club, and the Shrimps’ boss said he was happy with their contributions.
‘’They were very good,’’ he said. ‘’Everyone played their part and handled situations well. We were unfortunate with a couple of opportunities and over the afternoon we are happy with the point.
Now, the manager expects a very tough test at The Weston Homes Stadium, but one that his side are looking forward to.
‘’Their transfer business is excellent. They buy players, and then sell them on for more money. It’s a great model for them.
‘’They have talented players, as was shown when they were two goals down last week, and won 3-2.
‘’They can cause us problems, but we can cause them problems too, as Cheltenham did in the first half.
‘’Grant McCann (manager) is a perfect fit for them. He played there, has the affinity with the fans, and knows what the owners want.’’
The only place you can hear full match commentary of the match is on Beyond Radio. Join Dave Salmon and Matt Smith on Shrimps Live tomorrow (Saturday) from 2:45pm on 103.5FM, 107.5FM or DAB+ digital radio across North Lancashire and South Cumbria.
