Lancashire County Council is launching a major recruitment drive as it looks to strengthen its protection of the most vulnerable people this autumn and winter. The council is looking to fill several vacancies within its Disability Services, primarily adult disability support workers, at a range of locations across the county.
To start your career in adult social care, all you need is the right qualities, rather than specific qualifications, with on-the-job training and ongoing support provided.
Ian Crabtree, Director of Adults Disability and Care Services, said: "Working in adult social care is a varied and emotionally rewarding career.
"Every day is different and will see you supporting a range of different people, including adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, dementia and various other mental health conditions. You'll be making a huge difference to people's lives every single day by supporting them to be as independent as they can possibly be.
"As a support worker, the most important qualities we are looking for are great values, empathy, compassion, and an enabling attitude. We're not necessarily looking for people with specific qualifications, but rather for people with the right personal qualities.
"If you have a natural affinity for helping people and want to try a new career or are already working in adult social care and want a new challenge, we would love to hear from you."
