
Train services in the Lancaster and Morecambe Bay area will be hit as Storm Floris brings strong winds on Monday.
Avanti West Coast is advising people not to travel north of Preston on August 4.
Northern are also advising that Storm Floris may affect services.
Wind speeds are forecast to exceed 50mph in the Lancaster and Morecambe area on Monday morning, and people are particularly being advised to stay away from coastlines for safety reasons.
"We’re advising customers not to travel north of Preston today, 4 August, as our Anglo-Scot route is expected to be heavily affected by Storm Floris," said an Avanti West Coast spokesperson.
"Destinations north of Preston include Lancaster, Oxenholme, Penrith, Carlisle, Lockerbie, Motherwell, Haymarket, Glasgow Central and Edinburgh.
"If you were due to travel on this route today (Monday 4 August), your existing ticket can be used on Tuesday 5 August at any time, via the same route at no extra cost."
A Northern spokesperson said: "Storm Floris may affect services today with strong winds and heavy rain expected. As it stands, our trains are planned to run across our network with services heading further north disruption. Make sure you check and recheck before you travel. Latest info, live updates and journey planning are all available at https://nationalrail.co.uk."
Stagecoach bus company has, at time of going to press, reported no weather-related delays to its services in the Lancaster and Morecambe Bay area.
A yellow weather warning for wind, from the Met Office, is in place in the Lancaster and Morecambe Bay area for Monday.
