Another street party record attempt will form part of Morecambe’s coronation celebrations next month.
Morecambe’s Coronation Carnival, on Sunday May 7, will include an attempt at breaking a record for the UK’s longest ever coronation street party.
Morecambe's Coronation Carnival is set to be the biggest event on the Promenade this year, with bookings now been taken for tables to be a part of something truly special and celebrate the coronation of King Charles III in style.
The Coronation Carnival will take place along Morecambe's iconic promenade, starting from the Battery and running right along to the Town Hall.
The picnic on the prom will take place between 1pm and 5pm. Tables are £15 for up to 8 people, you just need to bring your own chairs. There will food and drink stalls available, but you're welcome to also bring your own picnic and decorations.
Entertainment will then be provided from 6pm, with live music from West End sensation, Morecambe opera star Leigh Coggins, DJ Chris Hawkins, and a spectacular firework display from the Stone Jetty at 9pm.
During the lunch, a parade of community organisations will be passing all tables while revellers enjoy their celebrations.
Alcohol is permitted for those attending, while decoration of tables is encouraged in red, white and blue to celebrate the occasion.
The event is being organised by Morecambe Town Council.
Last year, thousands partied on Morecambe Promenade to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee on an historic day for the town, with tables lining the prom from Frontierland to the town hall over a distance of just over 1.5 miles.
