A man has died after being hit by a train at Hest Bank.
The incident happened this afternoon (Tuesday, October 4), with police working to identify the person involved.
Transport Police attended alongside paramedics, with the person pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement, British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line in Hest Bank at 1.42pm on October 4 following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are working to identify the person and inform their family. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
The incident has caused significant disruption to timetables, with a large number of cancellations and delays. The advice is to check before you travel.
