Tributes have been paid following the death of a popular publican who was a leading figure in local hospitality for decades.
Brian Bromiley, who ran the Globe pub at Overton, was a long-time driving force on the events and entertainment scene in the Lancaster and Morecambe District.
Brian, from Heysham, ran his own business Town and Country Events, supplying mobile bars locally and further afield.
He also worked extensively in management roles in some of Morecambe's best-known venues during the 80s and 90s, including at Bubbles swimming centre and The Dome, The Empire nightclub, Fred's on the Ball pub and The Carleton club.
A few years ago, Brian was chair of the Morecambe Events Co-Operative, a team of local events and festival organisers who put on an annual bonfire and fireworks display on the Promenade.
He also formerly ran the Middle Inn at Middleton, before taking over the Globe in October 2023.
A post on The Globe at Overton Facebook page on December 26, announced the news of Brian's death.
"It is with great sadness that I let you know that Brian passed away yesterday," it said.
"Obviously The Globe will remain closed until further notice."
Following the announcement of his death, many of Brian's friends and customers posted tributes to him on the page.
Morecambe County Councillor Charlie Edwards described Brian as "one in a million".
Morecambe music promoter Ivan Harrison said Brian was "a nice man and friend" who will "sadly be missed".
Other tributes to Brian said he was "kind, warm hearted and hard working", "a key part of local hospitality", "a true gent and true friend to so many people", "a brilliant host", "a legend", and "a true character and gentleman" who "made everyone feel welcome and always did his best for the community".
A post on The Ship Hotel at Overton page on December 26 said:
"It is with deep sadness we have been notified that a fellow publican Brian in the village has sadly passed away yesterday.
"Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this very sad time, we offer our deepest condolences."
Brian’s funeral will be on Tuesday January 14 at 11.30am at Lancaster and Morecambe Crematorium.
