Two people have been convicted of theft after a handbag stolen from the waiting room at Lancaster train station.
A passenger forgot their handbag in the waiting room and it was stolen before she returned to collect it, back in August last year.
Officers from British Transport Police checked CCTV footage and were able to identify the offenders.
When both suspects became aware we knew they were responsible for taking the bag they said they would return it.
Two days later they handed it in to rail staff, with all the contents intact.
They’ve now appeared in court, with both convicted of theft.
The pair were handed a four week curfew, on a tag, and ordered to pay a £114 victim surcharge.
