Two of a series of online meetings where the public can find out more about the Eden Project Morecambe have been cancelled due to the general election.
The planned Eden 'Community Conversations' on June 4 and July 2 will now not take place, said a Lancaster City Council spokesperson.
The council spokesperson said this is because of "publicity restrictions which apply across local authorities" due to the upcoming election on July 4.
Local authorities are bound by strict pre-election rules called 'purdah' meaning they can't make announcements about initiatives which could be seen as advantageous to any candidates or parties in the election, during that period.
The regular online events, hosted by the Eden Project, give the public chance to find out the latest updates on the planned Eden Project Morecambe.
Attendees hear directly from the Eden team and the other partners involved in the project including Lancaster City Council, and have the chance to ask questions.
The scheduled dates for Community Conversations from August to January will still take place and you can sign up HERE.
They are:
Tuesday August 6 at 1.30pm (online)
Tuesday September 3 at 6pm (in-person, venue TBC)
Tuesday October 1 at 1.30pm (online)
Tuesday November 5 at 1.30pm (online)
Tuesday December 3 at 1.30pm (online)
Tuesday January 7 at 6pm (in-person, venue TBC)
Eden Project Morecambe will be situated on the central promenade of Morecambe, on the former site of the Bubbles leisure complex with the Winter Gardens and Midland Hotel its near neighbours.
The project will cost £100m, £50m of which has been secured from the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund.
The remaining £50m will be sourced from private and philanthropic funds.
Construction is due to begin this year (2024) and the project is due to open for small-scale community-focussed test events in 2026 with a full opening in Spring 2027.
