Two people arrested on suspicion of verbal abuse at Morecambe Pride

Two people have been arrested following an allegation of verbal abuse at Morecambe Pride.

A woman, 58, and a man, 65, both from Heysham, were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of causing intentional harassment, alarm or distress.

This follows an allegation of verbal abuse directed towards people taking part in the Pride parade along the Promenade on Saturday.

UPDATE: The two people have been released pending further investigations.

A police spokesperson said the arrests were not connected to an investigation into graffiti on the Promenade before the Pride event.

Enquiries into this are ongoing.
