Ukrainian families to attend Lancaster's 'Concert for Ukraine'

The Batala samba drummers will perform to welcome Ukrainian families to the concert on Friday

A Concert for Ukraine will welcome families from the war-torn country to a Lancaster theatre this weekend.

The concert, organised by Lancaster Grand Theatre, will take place this Friday (July 22) at 7.30pm.
 
Ukrainian guests have been invited to the theatre for a night of variety entertainment, welcoming them to the City of Lancaster. 
 
Free tickets for Ukrainian families and their hosts have been distributed / are still available and includes a special private welcome reception at 6pm. 
 
The concert will ​feature performances by the following well known local acts: 
  • Amy Jo 
  • Chris Barker 
  • The Mizzen Crew 
  • Dandelion Train 
  • Happy Feet Theatre School
  • Rival Shadows
  • Jay Diggins
  • Batala Lancaster (Batala will be performing outside on the theatre car park from 6pm to welcome Ukrainian guests and again at 7pm, welcoming audiences)
  • Lancaster Red Rose A.O.D.S
The concert has been organised in partnership with Lancaster City Council's Refugee Integration team and Lancaster & Morecambe City Of Sanctuary.
 
All ticket proceeds and donations on the evening will be gifted to Lancaster & Morecambe City of Sanctuary towards their ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) programme. 
 
Tickets for the public are still available to purchase on the Grand website or through the box office 01524 64695 at the cost of £12.50.
