It's Volunteers Week so our reporter GREG LAMBERT went to the Midland Hotel in Morecambe to meet volunteers who are helping vulnerable people in our area.
The Lancashire Volunteer Partnership (LVP) provides opportunities for people to make a real difference in their local communities.
From visiting people who may be feeling lonely or supporting those who are struggling to get out and about independently, to giving a carer some respite, volunteering alongside the neighbourhood policing teams as a Special Constable, at a children’s centre or as a cadet group leader; the LVP volunteers do a vital job in the community.
Greg spoke to volunteer officers Mark Trent and Phillip Boardman, as well as Community Support Befriending Volunteers Gillian Sheath and Kath Broomhead.
They were speaking at an LVP get-together, held at the Midland on Monday, to thank the volunteers for the work they do.
