Work on a Memorial Garden at the home of Morecambe Football Club is set to get underway next month.
The Memorial Garden has been a long time in the planning stages, after the Shrimps Trust first came up with the concept a number of years ago.
The garden, which is now set to be a fantastic addition to the club and the community, a place where people can honour and remember their loved ones and a place for reflection, will be built in November.

It’s hoped it will be completed before Christmas, weather permitting.
The garden will be located within the Mazuma Mobile Stadium footprint, on land to the left of the southern corner of the home Halo Terrace, near to the Hurley Flyer carpark.
Matthew Newsham, Events Lead at the Shrimps Trust, said: ‘’We have been working with the contractor to make sure that we get the right design for the needs of the membership.
‘’We were due to start the work on this some weeks ago, but after looking at the site again, concerns were raised by all parties about the placement of the memorial garden.
‘’After talking with Directors and Staff at Morecambe Football Club we have highlighted a new site, and we expect work to start on the site in the coming weeks. Morecambe FC has kindly agreed to assist with the clearing of the area for it to be ready to work on.
‘’Our thanks go to Karl at Karl's Gardens for his continued support on this project. We aim for this project to be in full swing at the beginning of November 2024 and completed within six weeks. All works will be weather dependent so may take extra time to complete.
‘’Thank you for your patience in relation to this project, rest assured everyone involved is working tirelessly to get work underway. The garden will be enjoyed by fans for years to come, so it is important that we get this right.’’
