A young Lancaster boxer has become the England national schoolboys champion.
Josh Sharp was victorious in the finals held in Banbury on Sunday.
Josh defeated John McDonagh from White Hart Lane by decision in the semi-finals of the 41kg class and then beat the experienced John Collins from London on a unanimous points decision in the final.
The 12-year-old from Lancaster, who goes to Central Lancaster High school, trains at the Coastal Amateur Boxing Club on West End Road in Morecambe, run by ex-professional boxer Frank Harrington.
"Josh was fantastic and what it means for our town is massive," said Frank.
"He beat boxers from some of the most reputable clubs in the country.
"It means everything for our club, and puts us in a really high position. Josh is our first national champion, and this kid will win more."
Frank thanked all his coaches Bob Howard, Terry Mcloughlin, Jamie Wakeman, Dave Higham, Carl Squirrell, Ben Torkington and Charlie Howard.
Josh qualified for the England finals after winning the North West title last month.
He will now be part of the England schoolboys squad.
