The group behind the reopening of the public toilets in Heysham village say the facility will be temporarily closed due to travellers setting up camp on the green.
Last week, it was announced that the facility would be open from 8am to 8pm every day, after being closed for a number of years.
But on Easter Monday, Heysham Neighbourhood Community (HNC), a group of residents behind the initiative, announced they would be closed for the time being.
A spokesperson for the group said: ‘’It is with a great deal of sadness that we have had to close our toilets.
‘’A large number of travellers have set up camp on our beautiful village green. We will reopen as soon as the situation is resolved.
‘’Thank you to everyone who has supported our efforts so far and we look forward to opening our doors to the public again.’’
HNC has agreed a three year lease of the building from Lancaster City Council to keep the toilets open to the public.
When reopened, a 50p card fee will be required to use them, towards ongoing costs to keep them open.
A refurbishment of the loos has been carried out by Quayside Construction and volunteer project manager Steve Matthews.
