Veterans gathered as a flag celebrating Armed Forces Day was raised at Morecambe Town Hall.
A ceremony to thank our Armed Forces was held today (June 19) at the start of Lancaster & Morecambe Armed Forces Weekend in the town.
A short ceremony was attended by Councillor Colin Hartley, mayor of Lancaster, with a service taken by Rev Chris Krawiec.
Among those attending were local D-Day veterans Richard Brock, 102, and Geoff Hogg, 101.

The flag will be raised at Lancaster Town Hall at 11am on Monday, June 22, and all are welcome to attend.

"Lancaster City Council is proud to fly the Armed Forces Flag, which recognises the Armed Forces dedication, courage, and the sacrifices they and their families make, while reaffirming the council’s ongoing commitment to supporting our armed forces community," said a spokesperson for Lancaster City Council.
"Armed Forces Day is an annual recognition and to thank the people who serve, or have served, in the UK Armed Forces - serving personnel, veterans, reservists, cadets and armed forces families.
"Our teams were also out this morning planting at Morecambe's cenotaph ahead of Armed Forces Day."

A three-day celebration of our Armed Forces and blue light services, centred around Morecambe Promenade, begins today.
