A 94-year-old Morecambe man was able to enjoy a special moment with his granddaughter at her wedding with support from the care home team where he lives.
Bob Strickland, who lives at Eric Morecambe House on Harrow Grove in Torrisholme, was able to attend his granddaughter’s wedding, thanks to the support of those who care for him every day.
Bob was originally due to attend the Burnley wedding virtually, however, Home Manager Stephanie Webster and Deputy Manager Michelle Watson had other ideas. They ensured that Bob’s presence was kept a secret, until the exact moment that his granddaughter Lucy was walking down the aisle.
Her dad told her to turn around, and there was Bob dressed in his finest attire.

Reflecting on the day, Stephanie said: ‘’It was amazing to be part of such a special family moment, and we’re so glad that Bob could be with his granddaughter on her big day.
‘’A massive congratulations to the happy couple as well!
Bob added: ‘’I’m so grateful to both Stephanie and Michelle for making it happen.’’
For their work, both Michelle and Stephanie have been recognised and nominated for internal recognition awards by Anchor, the parent company of the home.
