A food and drink festival due to take place in Heysham over the bank holiday weekend has been cancelled.
Organisers posted on social media on Saturday May 2 to advise that the event - originally advertised for Saturday May 2 to Monday May 4 - had been called off.
"This event has been cancelled due to lack of vendors paying for their site fee which made it financially impossible to run this event," said a post on the event Facebook page.
"With the running costs of musicians, artists, entertainers, ground running, security, first aid etcetera.
"All musicians, artists, entertainers were all notified. Any who paid (were) refunded.
"Sorry if this has caused any inconvenience to anyone.
"We did put a post on however for some reason it got took down due to some community guideline and we didn’t realise."
The festival was originally advertised as "the very first Heysham Food & Drink Festival" and "a fantastic weekend full of great food, drinks, and entertainment" with "a great selection of food and drink traders, live entertainment throughout the weekend, and rides and attractions for younger kids".
People who had travelled to Heysham village expecting to attend the festival, commented on the event Facebook page.
One said: "A lot of wasted journeys could have been avoided.
"There were a lot of people asking shop owners where is it and they were embarrassed to tell people it was not happening."
Another posted: "Very disappointed after travelling to the event and paying for parking for there to be nothing there."
A Kid Zone is being held on the field in Heysham village this weekend (May 2 to 4) by J Bird Event Amusements, with children's rides and attractions.
