An investigation is under way after a six-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital following an incident on a climbing wall at a Lancaster leisure centre.
Emergency services were called to Salt Ayre Leisure Centre on Sunday afternoon.
“We can confirm that the emergency services attended Salt Ayre Leisure Centre on Sunday afternoon following an incident on the X-Height climbing facility involving a six-year-old child," said a spokesperson for Lancaster City Council, the leisure centre owners.
"Although he was initially taken to hospital, we understand from his mother that he was later released having suffered no major injuries.
"An internal investigation is under way to determine the circumstances of the incident.”
A spokesperson for North West Air Ambulance Charity said: "We can confirm that the North West Air Ambulance Charity was called to an incident in Lancaster on the 11th January.
"Helimed 08 attended and the patient was treated then airlifted to Alder Hey Children's Hospital."
