An elite cycling race is set to return to Lancaster's roads on a day of entertainment, sport and family-friendly activities.
The Lancaster Grand Prix will take place on Sunday July 12 from 9am to 5pm.
It will combine elite cycle racing, courtesy of the sixth edition of the Lancaster Grand Prix, with a programme of activities designed to appeal to all ages.
Cyclists will use a now well established circuit on the roads on the outskirts of Lancaster, starting and ending at Williamson Park, and a rolling road closure will be in place.
The Open event will start at 9am from the park and be 10 laps of a 14.5Km circuit making a total distance of 152km.
The women's event will start at 2.15pm from Williamson Park and be six laps of a 14.5Km circuit making a total distance of 94km.
Race HQ is at the University of Cumbria's Lancaster campus close to the race start/finish in Williamson Park.
Entertainment throughout the day includes performances from The Songsmiths Musical Duo, a children’s storyteller, magic shows and circus skills workshops.
Younger visitors can also take part in children’s cycle coaching and balance bike sessions, helping to build confidence and skills.
For those keen to get involved in cycling activities, there will be traffic-free rides led by experienced ride leaders, as well as fun challenges including the Wattbike challenge and reaction lights challenge.
A selection of food vendors and a bar will also be on site, ensuring visitors can relax and enjoy the atmosphere throughout the day.
The event is supported by a range of partners including Lancaster City Council, Lancashire County Council, British Cycling, Skiddle, University of Cumbria and local sponsors.
