A two-day BBC Introducing live music show has been announced as part of an event standing in for Lancaster Music Festival this year.
This showcaseof up-and-coming bands will be held at The Storey in Lancaster on Saturday October 11 and Sunday October 12, as part of the four-day Love Lancaster Live.
Love Lancaster Live, organised by Lancaster BID, is taking place to hold the fort after it was announced that Lancaster Music Festival will not go ahead in 2025.
Six music artists from across the region will perform at the event, hosted by presenter William Wolstenholme, who hosts the BBC Introducing show on BBC Radio Lancashire and BBC Radio Cumbria.
“The Auditorium in The Storey is the perfect space for BBC Introducing Live – the acoustics are great and the audience will feel a real sense of intimacy with the acts," said William.
The event has been organised through a partnership with BBC Radio Lancashire, Lancaster City Council and Lancaster BID.
“We’re thrilled to be hosting this two-day event in one of our stunning buildings, adding another standout highlight to its dynamic programme of events," said Councillor Martin Bottoms, Lancaster City Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for arts and festivals.
“As part of Love Lancaster Live, it’s another fantastic opportunity to celebrate arts, culture, and community in the heart of our city.”
Love Lancaster Live is taking place from Thursday October 9 to Sunday October 12.
“Lancaster will be buzzing for the festival and I’m so pleased that we’ve been able to bring BBC Introducing to our city," said Tony Johnson, manager of Lancaster BID.
“Over the four days there will be hundreds of performances and this will certainly be a highlight.”
Tickets for BBC Introducing Live in Lancaster will go on sale in the spring.
The team of volunteers who organise the hugely popular Lancaster Music Festival, announced in January that they were taking a break.
Lancaster BID, a company funded by city centre businesses, decided to step in to ensure Lancaster still had a city-wide music extravaganza that weekend.
Lancaster BID has been operational since 2013, with a mission to support businesses and build footfall in the city centre.
