Children have been taught how to stay safe and alert around water on a visit from firefighters and leisure centre staff to a Morecambe primary school.
A team from Salt Ayre Leisure Centre and firefighters from Westgate Fire Station hosted a fun and interactive session at Westgate Primary School for pupils to learn simple steps to keep themselves and others safe near rivers, canals and the coast.
It comes as the weather starts to warm up, which makes it tempting to take a dip in the water.
By taking these messages into schools, Lancaster City Council - owners of Salt Ayre - is aiming to raise awareness of the importance of water safety, particularly at this time of year as according to the Royal Life Saving Society, 47 per cent of UK accidental drownings occur between May and August.
Whether it is walking by water, paddleboarding or just taking a dip, knowing how to swim and water safety knowledge could make all the difference in an emergency.
The Royal Lifesaving Society has Water Safety Advice for children.
