For 16 years and counting, Get It Loud have been doing pretty much what it says on the tin – making a lot of noise in local libraries and having a good time doing it. An event in February will bring another great talent to Lancaster library.
Supported by Arts Council England, this literary venture started out back in 2005 when director Stewart Parsons sought to re-invent libraries as inclusive, functional community spaces that appealed to diverse audiences, particularly young people. Over the years the Get It Loud alumni has grown, showcasing the best of emerging talent alongside some household names including Florence + The Machine, Ellie Goulding, IDLES, Jorja Smith and Adele. Bess Atwell is set to shake up the shelves as Get It Loud returns to Lancaster Central Library in February.
Performing tracks from her well-received album, 'Already Always', Bess Atwell takes recognisable influence from the likes of Fleet Foxes, Lana Del Rey and Joni Mitchell. Atwell has already positioned herself as a rising star, described by Under The Radar as 'One of the most exciting new voices in English folk.
Live music in local libraries gives audiences of all ages the rare chance to get up close and personal with their favourite acts. Audiences give resoundingly positive feedback to this literary-meets-musical event environment, praising the ‘tremendous surroundings’ and the high calibre of acts.
