People are being asked to express an interest in being part of the team who will decide how £20 million of funding will be spent in Morecambe’s West End.
Pride in Place is a ten-year £20 million government regeneration fund for the West End, which will come in the shape of £2 million a year, every year, for ten years.
Board members are needed to empower residents who live in the boundary covered by the fund, via ongoing engagement with a local Neighbourhood Board who will decide how to spend the money.
The fund can be used to develop a wide range of community projects like upgrading parks, fixing empty buildings, and boosting the high street, aiming for lasting improvements and community control over the area’s future.
A local board structure is being established with three groups. These comprise of a Neighbourhood Board, which make decisions based on widespread engagement with the residents and community groups who know the area best; a Technical Advisory Panel to give sector-based advice to support the decisions to be made by the Neighbourhood Board; and a Community Panel to support the decisions to be made by the Neighbourhood Board, informed by their local experience.
A range of people will be selected who bring different perspectives to ensure that the decision making of the Neighbourhood Board is representative of the voice of the West End community.
Morecambe and Lunesdale MP Lizzi Collinge said: ‘’The majority of the groups must live or work in the West End although those with strong links will be considered. These are voluntary roles and people selected will be permitted to claim reasonable expenses incurred through their involvement, such as travel costs and childcare expenses.
‘’People will be selected who have an understanding of the West End from the perspectives of the community, age ranges, local businesses and social enterprises, charities, cultural, arts, heritage, sporting organisations, and public agencies such as education, health, public safety, and armed forces.’’
To apply for the Neighbourhood Board and Technical Advisory Panel please submit a CV and a short statement explaining what skills you can bring to the project to prideinplace@northlancashirecab.org.uk
To apply for the Community Panel, please submit a statement explaining your interest in the project and your connection to the West End to prideinplace@northlancashirecab.org.uk
Closing date for applications January 16, 2026, with interviews and appointments by the end of that month.
