Hundreds of school pupils performed the trademark 'Bring Me Sunshine' dance on the Promenade during a fun run to celebrate Eric Morecambe's centenary.

Morecambe Bay Academy’s Eric Morecambe Run on Friday afternoon was started by Gary and Gail Morecambe, Eric's children.

The fun run began at the Eric statue on Friday afternoon and finished at the school on Dallam Avenue, with many pupils and staff performing the trademark Morecambe and Wise skip.

This event, supported by Morecambe Town Council, was part of a programme of official activities to mark the 100th birthday of the legendary TV comedian, who was born and brought up in the town.

Students, teachers, Eric's family, people lining the Prom to support the fun runners, and police all got into the 'Bring Me Sunshine' spirit.

Lesley Fountain, wife of Eric's chauffeur the late Mike Fountain, was also there to support the fun run.

Lesley created 130 special 'Happy 100th Birthday Eric' sunshine pebbles that were left around and about for people to find during Eric's birthday week.
