Hundreds of new jobs are being earmarked to help people in Lancashire get back into employment following the pandemic.
PHX Training, which helps adults to find jobs, training courses and apprenticeships from its centres in Blackpool, Preston and Morecambe, has started preparing for a new government campaign to help people reskill and find permanent work as the country builds back from lockdown.
The company says that the Government’s £2.9 billion Restart scheme to help people back into employment across the region will result in mass recruitment for roles as employability experts and work coaches, starting this summer.
Employability practitioners support people who struggle to find work because they have multiple barriers to starting, such as not having the correct qualifications or needing to reskill after an extended period out of work.
Briony Fawcett, managing director at PHX Training, says people who train now for a new career as a work coach will be in prime position when the jobs become available later this year.
She said: “As we come out of the pandemic, we expect to see an influx of government targeted support to get people back into work, but for that to happen hundreds of new work coaches will need to be hired across the country, and particularly in the North West.
“Training as a work coach is a great opportunity for people to start a new career helping other people. Qualifying and becoming accredited is relatively straightforward and enrolling now should help people to get a head start in a growing jobs sector.”
PHX Training has training centres throughout Lancashire and Cumbria at Barrow, Carlisle, Workington, Morecambe, Preston and Blackpool, to help people complete training courses and apprenticeships to help people back into work.
PHX Training delivers government-backed initiatives including adult skills – Maths, English and vocational courses, NEET (not in education, employment or training), employability contracts and apprenticeships.
