A man from Lancaster who was critically injured in a hit and run has died.
Police said that the man, 42, died on Christmas Day after being injured in an incident on December 16 on Ovangle Road, near the waste recycling centre.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said the driver of a black Hyundai i30 collided with a pedestrian walking on the pavement and then failed to stop at the scene.
The Hyundai was later found abandoned a short distance away on Lancaster Road having been reported stolen.
A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop after a collision, and a 37-year-old woman was arrested for causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a collision and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
They have been bailed as police enquiries continue.
“First and foremost my thoughts and sympathies are with the pedestrian’s loved ones at what is an incredibly tough time, especially with him passing away on Christmas Day," said Detective Sergeant Matt Davidson of Lancashire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
"They are being supported by specially-trained family liaison officers.
“Enquiries into the collision are ongoing and although two people have been arrested, we are continuing to ask for information and footage that could assist us investigate this tragic incident.
“We are particularly interested in footage of the Hyundai before and after the collision.
"We have included an image of a vehicle which is the same make and model as the one involved in the collision in the hope it may jog people’s memories.

“If you have any CCTV or dashcam footage of Ovangle Road, or anywhere on Scale Hall between 2pm and 2:30pm on 16/12/2025, please get in touch with us as soon as you can especially if you have footage of a vehicle matching this description, no matter how insignificant you feel your information may be.
“We know that this is a busy road, and there may also be people who witnessed the collision who we may have not yet spoken to. If this is you, or if you know someone who could assist our enquiries, please do let us know.”
