A Lancaster woman who worked the receptions of various hospital departments is retiring after working for the NHS for nearly 60 years.
The Maxillofacial, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) and Audiology team said they were sad to say farewell to Hilary Freedman, who will retire this month.
Hilary started her career in 1966 at NHS Cumbria, where she worked as a Secretary to the Pathologist. Following the department's closure, she moved to a post as a hospital receptionist, where she worked until 1976.
HiIary moved to Lancaster in 1977 and took up a post as an Outpatient Receptionist covering various departments. She then moved to the Dermatology Department, covering Beaumont and Queen Victoria Hospital receptions.
In 2005, she joined the Maxillofacial Department as a receptionist, where she worked for 20 years, prior to the recent merger of the reception staff for the Maxillofacial, ENT, and Audiology departments.
Hilary, who is married to Beyond Radio presenter Gibson Freedman, said: "I have absolutely loved my job, especially the face-to-face contact of my role and helping the patients solve any issues and problems.
‘’I will remember the happy memories of the great people I have worked with and the patients I have met during my career.
"I would like to thank all of the helpful and supportive staff I have worked with over the years who have made my role enjoyable."
