A new multi-sensory centre for children and adults with disabilities is set to open at a historic house in Lancaster.
The SEND Den will be based on the ground floor of Ryelands House in Ryelands Park in Lancaster, it was announced this week.
The centre will include various spaces including a sensory suite, movement room, music room, therapy space and refreshments area.
Posting the news on their social media, The SEND Den said:
"After months (okay, years!) of searching, planning, hoping, and dreaming we are over the moon to announce that The SEND Den will be based on the ground floor of the beautiful Ryelands House in Lancaster!"
"Not only is this a perfect fit for us, but what an incredible future it gives this historic and much-loved building.
"We are absolutely delighted that North Lancashire Community Land Trust have successfully taken responsibility for Ryelands House and we can’t thank them enough for giving The SEND Den this incredible opportunity and space to grow.

"Just look at where we are…Surrounded by nature, trees, and the stunning architecture of Ryelands House itself. There’s a large green playing field right outside, a playground at the back, and plenty of room to play, learn, and feel safe.
"We’re tucked away from the main road, giving families peace of mind and space to breathe and yes, there’s a large car park, wheelchair access, and everything we could have hoped for.
"It genuinely ticks every single box we dreamed of for The SEND Den.
"Waiting for the right building has absolutely paid off and now, the real magic begins.
"Here’s to a future filled with inclusion, laughter, community, and sensory joy at Ryelands House, Lancaster."
Recently Kelly Sharpe and Sarah Roskell from The SEND Den visited the Beyond Radio studio to talk about their plans.

The SEND Den team are looking to raise £60,000 to help get the centre open, and have raised just over half so far.
Their online fundraising page says:
"For too long, families in our community have faced limited access to safe, suitable, and accessible spaces where their children can play, learn, and thrive.
"Many parents feel isolated, especially during colder months, with nowhere to take their children that truly understands and supports their needs.
"The SEND Den will change that — providing a warm, welcoming space filled with sensory equipment, quiet areas, specialist staff, and activities designed for every ability.
"But we can’t do it alone.
"We are working tirelessly behind the scenes — applying for grants, speaking with local councils, and connecting with businesses — but starting something of this scale requires significant funding to secure premises, equipment, and staff who have the knowledge and compassion needed to make The SEND Den a success.
"Every donation, no matter how big or small, brings us one step closer to opening our doors."
