Ten fire engines were called to the scene of a blaze on a Heysham industrial estate.
Emergency services were called on Saturday morning to a fire at a commercial premises on Gas Field Road at the Heysham Business Park.
A large number of wooden pallets were on fire and the blaze had spread to nearby wasteland and woodlands.
Crews from Lancaster, Morecambe, Bolton-le-Sands, Silverdale, Fulwood, Preston, Blackpool, Bamber Bridge and Fleetwood tackled the fire after the call out at 9.40am.
Large plumes of smoke could be seen in the vicinity, and firefighters advised residents to keep their windows and doors closed.
People were also advised to avoid the area.
Fire crews were still at the scene on Saturday evening, having extinguished the pallets that were on fire, and the wasteland.
The fire was at Bay Pallets Ltd, which specialises in the delivery of wooden pallets.
The company Facebook page said: "Bay Pallets is still trading, our service might take a little longer than usual but we will try to keep everyone up to date and happy as always."
