LISTEN: Friends' new social group is bringing women together in Morecambe

Two friends who met at school have formed a new social group in Morecambe to help create connections, fun and a safe space for women.

Becky West and Jess Stewart have set up the Woven Women Collective CIC.

Becky and Jess will run regular social walks for women, craft workshops, coffee mornings, sober raves, and even a silent disco to help bring women together.

Their next Woven Walk is this Sunday (September 13) starting at 9am at Happy Mount Park.

Women will walk together along the Prom towards the Clock Tower, stop for a coffee at Grow Kitchen Cafe on Queen Street, and then make their way back to the park.

"Our first walk was where the seed of all of this really started to grow...women arrived, some knowing nobody at all, and within no time we were walking, chatting, laughing and making new connections," they said.

The first Woven Women Walk

"Woven Women is for all women looking for connection - whatever your age, ability, background or story.

"There are no labels, no judgement, you don't need to be struggling, you don't need to be in crisis, you might just need your people.

"We're not here to fix women. We're here to connect them."

Becky, who runs The Salty Bean Coffee House in the West End, and Jess, from Northern Shore Holistics, will also organise a Silent Disco walking rave on Saturday October 24 from 7pm. Tickets have sold out.

Other events planned for the future include a women's retreat next year, and other ideas for events are welcome.
