A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with serious leg injuries after a crash on the A6 at Carnforth.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson said they received a report on Thursday at around 10.40am of a collision between a grey Honda GB350 S-S motorbike and a silver Toyota Yaris on the roundabout at the junction of Lancaster Road (A6) and Longfield Drive.
The rider of the motorbike, a man in his 80s, has been taken to hospital with serious leg injuries.
The driver of the Toyota was uninjured.
"Enquiries into what led to the collision are in their early stages, and an investigation is underway," said a police spokesperson.
"As part of those enquiries, we now need to ask for your help.
"If you were driving on that roundabout, or the stretches of road leading up to it, and witnessed or have dashcam that shows the collision, the aftermath, or either vehicle prior to the collision, we would be very interested in seeing it and speaking to you.
"Please give us a call on 101 or email SCIU@lancashire.police.uk quoting log 0456 of 10th September 2026."
A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said three fire engines from Bolton-le-Sands, Carnforth and Lancaster were called to the incident at 11.08am.
"Firefighters worked to make the scene safe using absorbent pads and assisted with the transfer of one casualty into the care of North West Ambulance Service," said the spokesperson.
"Crews were on scene for approximately one hour."
A road closure was in place following the incident.
"The A6 Lancaster Road between Crag Bank Road and Longfield Drive, Carnforth, is currently closed while the emergency services deal with a serious collision," said a Lancaster Area Police spokesperson on Thursday.
"We ask that you avoid the area and choose a different route if you are travelling.
"The closure is expected to be in place for some time and we will update you when it reopens.
"Thank you for your understanding and patience."
A Carnforth Town Council spokesperson said: "Carnforth Town Council is aware of the serious road traffic collision that occurred earlier today on the A6 in the Crag Bank area of Carnforth.
"Our thoughts are with everyone involved. We would like to thank Lancashire Police, ambulance crews, the air ambulance team and all other emergency responders for their swift response, as well as local residents and motorists for their patience while road closures and diversions were in place."
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam footage is encouraged to contact the police on 101, quoting the reference number provided by Lancashire Police.
Please take extra care when travelling through the area and allow additional time for any journeys while traffic conditions return to normal
Stagecoach said their 5 bus service will terminate at Happy Mount Park towards Carnforth until the road reopens.
555 services will divert from Pine Lake via the M6 & the Bay Gateway to Beaumont Bridge and will not serve any stops in between.
